We’d like to introduce you to our Volunteer of the Month for June – Filipe Dimas! ☀️ Filipe has been a Funnies volunteer for years and has always shown dedication, a kind heart and hilarity. Always down for a road trip show, and getting big laughs each show – we love having him as a volunteer!

We asked Filipe Dimas a few questions so you can get to know him better, check it out!

1. What is your favourite thing about volunteering with Funnies?

Seeing the shy kids come out of their shells. As a child I was very shy, and comedy was a big part of what helped me become more expressive and social. There’s few things I’ve ever experienced more heartwarming than seeing someone who is too nervous to participate discover the joy and fun in comedy and see the seed of passion begin to blossom. Those people always end up being so much funnier than anyone would ever expect. I love it so much.

2. What do you do outside of volunteering?

I write, perform, and produce comedy around Toronto! I’m also a sports fanatic, and play far too many video games which I use to my advantage by impressing audiences with my Fortnite dance moves.

3. What is your best summer memory?

One time I was in New York with a bunch of friends and decided to have a day to myself. I had a whole bunch of stuff planned but then I found a really good pizza place and just ended up eating pizza all day. It was the best day of my life.

4. What’s something special about your family?

I have triplet sisters. They’re all as annoying as I am. My parents don’t know what to do.

5. Who are your favourite comedians? Let’s say top three. Local or beyond.

Can I do ever? I’m going to do ever. Robin Williams, Abbott & Costello, and everyone on Vine.
