Charlene Roth is a dedicated volunteer who often finds the time to fill in for Funnies, even with her busy life. She is hilarious in our shows and always shows a positivity the families could use during their tough time.

We asked Charlene some questions to learn more, read below:

1. What is your favourite thing about volunteering with Funnies?

My favourite thing is getting to interact with the families and seeing them laugh and have fun. The kids are so fun and they make me laugh so much! I also really love to see the parents interact and play along with the games. I think they’re really starting to enjoy my very horrible impression skills. I’m definitely winning them over. Right?!

My favourite game by far is movie in a minute when the audiences votes until one person has to recreate the entire scene on their own. There is always so much flailing and jumping around. Which I personally think makes for great scene work.

2. What do you do outside of volunteering?

I do about a million things at once. I’m an actor and improviser and that keeps me pretty busy most evenings. I also work at a law firm during the days and you know, just because I like to really give myself too much to do, I study martial arts and boxing.

3. What are your favourite things about Fall?

My favourite thing about the Fall is the leaves changing colour. It’s so beautiful! I love walking through High Park especially when the leaves start to fall.

I’m also kind of obsessed with scarfs and FINALLY, I get to start wearing them again!

4. Describe your family in a few words.

Competitive board gamers! Every family gathering is just an all-nighter of different board games and probably way more competitive than it should be. We easily go to 2 or 3 in the morning playing games.

Also, everyone in my family is hysterical. They are honestly the funniest people I have ever met and I’m constantly doubled over laughing when we’re all together…maybe that’s why it takes us so long to get through games.
